Moving Day

Good Friends

Tomorrow, Friday August 31st, the Kangaroostaurant will be serving breakfast to our friends at the Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes. They have graciously and willingly opened up their commercial kitchen inside their building for us to use as a home base location until we were able to find a more long term home. We are grateful beyond words for what the Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes have done for us by moving quickly to make room for us and accomodating our schedule and supplies and all that a food truck brings when you share space with them. They have been kind and have treated us so well, that it would seem silly to move. But, it was never meant to be a permanent home and we have been working over the past few months to find a solution that would not only be sustainable but also provide us with oppurtunity to grow along with affording us the ability to continue focusing on serving local food to folks around the Fox Valley. Well, a solution that at first seemed almost too good to be true, has been found.

A Lovely View of the River

Tomorrow, after serving lunch at the Lawrence University Warch Campus Center, the Kangaroostaurant will be moving from the Girls Scouts to the Riverview Gardens Community Center. This is an incredible oppurtunity for us to not only grow the Kangaroostaurant, but to also work in a state of the art kitchen that is the dream come true for many a chef or restaurant. The Riverview Community Center is a beautiful venue for corporate meetings and functions, weddings or gatherings of any sort. We will have the oppurtunity to be one of a select group of preferred caterers for the Riverview.

The food producing plants growing in the Gardens are not only making food, they are beautiful!

WHEW – Can You Believe It?
As you can imagine, this is incredibly exciting for us. Not only will we have a beautiful space to work in, we will be able to play a role in a project of great value to our community ~ if there are two things we love around the Kangaroostaurant it’s good food and good people. Riverview has both and we are honored to be a part of the change that is happening at Riverview. We have had the priveledge of catering three events at Riverview and have used produce grown in the Gardens to prepare the meal. It really doesn’t get much closer to home than that. We look forward to many more oppurtunities to share the bounties of Riverview with folks!

I encourage you to check Riverview out. Their website is http://RiverviewGardens.Org~ follow them on Facebook ~ there will be many exciting things happening in the next few months, you won’t want to miss it!

It’s Time
And with that, we say to our friends at the Northwestern Great Lakes Girl Scouts – a humble and sincere thank you ~ for taking us in and giving us a space to operate in and being such gracious hosts. We will never forget the many kindesses you have shown towards us and will ALWAYS hold a special place in our hearts for you. To David and Mark, (sniff) thank you both for all you have done to make it possible for us to transition to your kitchen and what you’ve done to make it work. We are deeply, deeply grateful….(sniff)….

A special note to our CSR Members ~  You will be recieving a note this week via email regarding this exciting news and how you can start reaping the rewards of your CSR Membership. Your patience with us as we worked out the details of this move have been deeply appreciated ~ we look forward to seeing each of you ~ soon!

See you on the Streets!

Hi Jay. My name is Tom Morrissey. I am Bill’s brother. I just wanted to tell you how touched I was reading your piece that you wrote on Bill and his music. i know that was over a year ago when he died but sometimes when I am missing him terribly, I go to his website and read some of the articles, blogs and pieces that folks wrote about him. Your writing about my brother was wonderful.
He has been gone for a year and a half and it is still tough at times. He was a great brother. I am 6 years younger but we were very close. I get to listen to his music and remember him often. i’m so glad you enjoyed his music. Anyways, my best to you and your family. Thank you so much for your kind words about my brother. –Tom Morrissey
